ASIC (Application-Specific Integrated Circuit) is specialized hardware designed for a specific purpose—in the crypto world, it's typically used for mining cryptocurrencies. ASIC miners are highly efficient at solving the cryptographic puzzles required to mine certain cryptocurrencies, like Bitcoin. However, they can only mine the specific cryptocurrency for which they were built. Due to their efficiency, ASIC miners have largely overtaken GPU and CPU miners in networks like Bitcoin and Litecoin.
